The latest and most innovative techniques in Breast Surgery were discussed at the Twenty-Sixty Annual Breast Surgery Symposium that Dr. Jon Paul Trevisani attended in Atlanta, Georgia. The program demonstrates through live surgery various techniques in breast surgery. It also provides updated panels discussing various aspects of aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery. The current trends and techniques in breast augmentation and results using various implant types, shapes and surfaces as well as fat injection advances and controversies were also presented.

One topic that that raised much discussion was the use of the BRAVA® Breast Enhancement and Shaping System. This system allows for fuller breasts without the need of prosthetic implants. The question, “how does this BRAVA® system work?” arises. Quite interestingly, the BRAVA® system consists of two domes that are placed on breasts and is worn for 8-10 hours a day for approximately 3-4 weeks. These specially engineered silicone gel rims have a sophisticated minicomputer built-in that creates and regulates the tension within the domes. This creates an external tissues expansion mechanism. After the allotted time frame, doctors are now introducing autologous fat transfers to these areas where tissue expansion has occurred. The fat from the abdominal or thigh areas are withdrawn and carefully centrifuged. This fat is then placed in the breasts. The results are fuller, shapelier breasts without the use of implants.

Although the art and science of this development is in its infancy and no long-term studies have been drawn, patients who have had this procedure are left satisfied. Of course the questions of evoking mammographic difficulties, pre-cursor to breast cancer, effects of capsular contracture, fat re-absorption rate are still vague.

Whether this is a viable option for patients seeking fuller-shapelier breasts will be continued research. An upcoming meeting in Miami in the next month will also address this new innovation. For now, the good standard for Breast Augmentation is with implantation.

“My name is Lisa and I am 30-something years old. I am the mother of 2 wonderful children. I am very happy with the appearance and shape of my breasts.I have just recently started looking into breast augmentation the last couple of months. I can not stress to you enough about how very IMPORTANT it is to do your research before making any decisions regarding breast implants.

On September 9th, I decided to go on my second consultation with Jon Paul Trevisani in Maitland, FL. I had already had my first consult with him 2 weeks prior, and was still undecided at that point. I had many more questions that I wanted to ask him prior to my decision. The second consultation went very well, and I then decided that he would be the plastic surgeon. The pre-op appointment was very simple. Since size and the procedure had been pretty much thoroughly discussed at my 2 consults, I pretty much knew all of the information and had no questions whatsoever.

I had my surgery on a Friday, and I was back in class on Monday. I guess I was lucky, and had a very fast recovery, with very little pain. Yes, they were tender for a couple of weeks, but it was more of a discomfort, and not really what I would consider to be pain. I am now over 2 months post, and if I had to do this all over again, I would do it in a heartbeat! It is amazing how different I now feel when I look at myself in the mirror.

I would like to give thanks to my wonderful PS [plastic surgeon] Jon Paul

Trevisani. I am so very thrilled with what he has done for me!

I highly recommend him!”

“I’m 31 years old and have 2 children. I’ve always had very small breasts, and I knew from the time I was about 18 that I would eventually have a breast augmentation. After my second child, my small breast situation seemed to worsen and there was almost nothing left of them. My body image was plummeting and I knew it was time to do something. I did tons of research on the internet and although I was afraid of the pain, I decided this is what I wanted to do.

After researching credentials, I narrowed my list of prospective surgeons down to just a few. After consultations with different doctors, I chose Dr. Jon Paul Trevisani to perform my surgery. His staff was friendly and extremely knowledgeable, and the office was very professional and clean. I arrived with a list of 18 questions, 16 of which were thoroughly answered by the nurse before the doctor even came into the room! Once I met Dr. Jon I understood why he has such a great reputation across Florida: his top priority is to get a perfect understanding of exactly what size, shape and projection I wanted. The patient’s desired outcome is his number-one priority, which is extremely admirable (and hard to find!). He continued to ask me questions until he had a very good understanding of what I wanted, and then he moved forward with his recommendation. He seemed very down-to-earth, yet very professional and knowledgeable in his field. After deciding on what type of implant to go with, I tried on a few sizers to fine-tune the size decision, and then I scheduled a surgery date!

Between the consultation and the pre-op appointment I came up with a few more questions. Every time I called the office his staff was friendly and able to answer my questions right away. By the time I arrived on my surgery day, I knew exactly what to expect. Again, the entire staff was warm and friendly, and they made sure I was completely comfortable during my entire visit.

I woke up from surgery feeling great! My breasts felt a little swollen (same feeling as breast engorgement that first week or so of breastfeeding), but nothing I couldn”t handle. In fact, right before I left the surgery center I asked if I had to take the pain medicine or if I could just go without it! I think my swelling peaked around 3 days after surgery, that was the first time I really wanted to take a pain pill. Not because I was in severe pain, but just “uncomfortable” with the swelling (my skin did a LOT of stretching). By the end of the second week I was back to my normal activities, and by the end of the fourth week my breasts were soft and felt like a natural part of me!

The whole process was very simple, and the pain was way less than I ever anticipated. My breasts look gorgeous, and my self esteem has skyrocketed. I feel so much more feminine and confident. The only regret I have is that I didn’t do this 10 years ago!

He has the hand of a perfectionist and the eye of an artist. I’ve been more than pleased with my entire experience and I would highly recommend Dr. Jon to anyone considering breast surgery.”

- Jan

“After several years of research and saving the money to do so and several consultations, I decided to visit Dr. Jon Paul Trevisani in Maitland, Florida for my breast augmentation. It is a couple-hour drive from where I live but was WELL-worth the ride!

I accidentally showed up for my consultation 1 month early (don’t ask – not sure how I got that confused) but he took the time to see me that day anyway. His staff is absolutely wonderful and he is truly an artist at his work. He answered all of my questions and concerns and we scheduled my surgery date that day.

On March 5th, 2004 I had my BA [breast augmentation]. I got 800 cc silicone gel overs along with a crescent lift. I am now a full DD again (had breastfed 3 children and was a saggy 36C) and I couldn’t be happier with my results. I would highly recommend him to anyone in Florida or planning on traveling here. There are at least 20 other PS’s [plastic surgeon’s] closer to my home near Tampa, but I’m so glad I went a little out of my way to go to Maitland because my results are just perfect.

Thank you Dr. Jon Paul Trevisani and staff! “

“Dr. Jon listened well and was very non-intimidating. He was just as pleasant when I came back with a possible problem after my surgery. When asked his recommendation, he recommended a larger implant (400cc) when other doctors had recommended 300 or 330cc for me. He had all the right credentials and I also perceived him as competent to do the job. Although I was only offered a crease incision, I agreed because Dr. Trevisani was in a silicone study for primary BA [breast augmentation] patients. In the end, he did a fine job and I am very happy with the results at almost 5 months…

Oops, I did forget to mention where I found Dr. Jon Paul Trevisani (another Dr. Trevisani exists in the area, not to be confused with Jon Paul Trevisani, the ps [plastic surgeon]). “Steph” from Georgia, on your site, used him and knew he could do silicone for primary BA [breast augmentation] patients. She passed that on to me and I set up a consult after seeing his page on your site. Take care and thank you for your site. It has meant a lot to me. “

I recently had BA (breast augmentation) and after much research and many consultations I decided on Jon P. Trevisani as my PS [plastic surgeon]. I am at my seventh month post-op and had my six month check up last week. I am COMPLETELYsatisfied. After seeing many of his photos in the office and meeting the staff, my decision was easy. His office and staff are very impressive. I had been advised from other surgeons to “go bigger” because they advised me that “you are never big enough”. Dr. Jon made me feel comfortable with my decision to stay fairly small compared to previous consultations. With my 375 cc’s I am now a comfortable 34D. If I had gone any bigger I would have gotten stretch marks. Great Job Dr. Jon. The 1 1/2 hour drive from Ocala was well worth it! “

As someone who usually scars really badly and forms keloids… only 9 months later and my scars are almost nonexistent! He’s a wonderful doctor and isn’t out to make you look fake. I went to him after 2 other consults where I was told I should have about 350ccs. I was terrified they would be too big!! Dr. Trevisani told me that to achieve the natural look and size that I wanted, I should go with a 425 to 475. I trusted his recommendation, and let me tell you – he was right. My breasts are not large by any definition, but they are the perfect size for my body. If I would have gone with the 350 I wouldn’t have even noticed a difference! I hear so many girls who after surgery either wish they had gone bigger or smaller… I don’t wish either. I am so incredibly happy with the size I have!
